Advances in Technology: Transitioning Distance Education Into the Next Phase

During CCME 2016, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) presented on the challenges of providing access to highly specialized technical programs to service members stationed around the world. This follow-on presentation takes these challenges into account and showcases advances in technology that the university has leveraged to provide military students with an opportunity to have access to high quality technical degree programs regardless of their duty station. During our presentation, we plan to demonstrate virtual lab environments that are currently being utilized to provide highly technical content to military students around the world, as well as showcase mixed-reality technology with future applications to deliver highly specialized technical courses.
