Best Developmental Practices from a Military Basic Skills Education Program

This presentation explains how a military basic skills education program is designed to improve word knowledge, mathematics, and paragraph comprehension levels. Using the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) for determining academic achievement levels, community college instructors use a descriptive statistical analysis of preliminary and post assessment data to highlight their student’s learning needs. Shared in this presentation is how the use of collaborative academic resources during an 80-hour block of instructions produced definitive results.
