Loretta Cornett-Huff Memorial Scholarship
The CCME Spouse Scholarship was renamed in 2013 The Loretta Cornett-Huff Memorial Scholarship. Ms Huff served as the Education Director for the Marine Corps Base in Kaneohe Bay, and Camp Smith, Hawaii for nineteen years, ending a forty year career in military education. She previously served as the Far East Education Area Coordinator for the U.S. Navy. She was known as the first Navy Education Specialist stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. In the 1980's, Ms Huff directed the Navy Afloat Program for Japan, Okinawa and Korea, offering programs on board ship. She is honored and recognized with a plaque in memory by the International Adult and Continuing Education Hall of Fame Memorial. She leaves behind a legacy known as the woman of the Pacific in U.S. military education and she was given the title as an education "Steward and Navigator" for military members and their families. As a result of her outstanding career, she received the CCME Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012.
