Mr. Jim Johnson

Mr. Johnson is a native of Chicago, Illinois and enlisted in the United States Navy in July 1989, serving 20 years before retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer and entering federal civil service.
Mr. Johnson supported the education and professional development of the enlisted workforce, active and reserve, for nearly 30 years. During his final active duty assignment, he managed enlisted career development programs for the U.S. Atlantic Fleet.
Following retirement from active duty, Mr. Johnson managed Education and Incentive Programs for the Navy Reserve until August 2015 when he was selected as Navy’s Voluntary Education Service Chief. Working for the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations (Manpower, Personnel, Training, and Education), he oversees policy development for voluntary education, apprenticeship, certification and SkillBridge programs.
