Dave Lawyer, PhD

Dr. Lawyer is the Mountain Region Military and Veteran Partnership Specialist for Excelsior University and adjunct faculty in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, School of Business Master’s programs.

Dr. Lawyer has been serving the military and veteran community for over 35 years, through community volunteer opportunities, and since 2010, in voluntary education. Dr. Lawyer has been in management and leadership positions in the U.S. corporate sector for over 25 years serving as a mentor, developmental coach, program developer, project manager, and regional and executive director. He now works in Higher Education pursuing his passion of helping others achieve their educational goals.

Dr. Lawyer serves as President of the Board of Directors for Living Hope Counseling Services, a mental health non-profit located in central El Paso, Texas. He also serves as Vice President on the Board of Directors for Guardians Of the Children – Sun City Chapter, a non-profit public benefit charity. Dr. Lawyer also serves on the governing Council for Del Sol Church. Along with his wife and two children, he also runs a local food pantry and clothing closet, serving the under-resourced in the Northeast El Paso area. 

Dr. Lawyer has earned an Associate in Science from Excelsior University, a Bachelor of Science in Social Psychology from Park University, a Master of Arts in Human Resource Development from Webster University, and a PhD in Education from Capella University.
